Winter Hibiscus Margarita

There are many things I love about Tequila Cazadores. It comes from the beautiful town of Arandas in Los Altos, which is filled with people who are genuinely proud of the product that their community is known for.  That is the essence of Tequila Cazadores: pride, courage, and authenticity in everyday people.

To maintain the highest level of quality, Tequila Cazadores uses only 100% blue weber agave, water, and select natural yeast in its production process.  The quality of Tequila Cazadores cannot be replicated overnight, the blue weber agave plants are cultivated for 7-8 years before reaching ripeness which creates a tequila with a round, sweet, full agave flavor.

The Tequila Cazadores portfolio includes four types of tequila: Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo. Tequila Cazadores Blanco and Reposado recently received a 93 point and 91 point rating, respectively, from Wine Enthusiast, making them some of the best tequilas in their categories in the world.  Blanco is generally used in light, citrusy drinks. Reposado adds the oak and vanilla from the time it has spent in barrels, so it is better used in heavier cocktails. I chose the lightly woody and vanilla Reposado.

Cazadores Reposado is aged between two months to one year in new, small, American white oak barrels to instill a deep flavor and medium body. The highly defined character of this medium bodied tequila is peppered with notes of wood, vanilla, pear and caramel that ultimately produce a light heat and lasting finish.

Here is a Winter Hibiscus Margarita with this affordable, high-quality Reposado. The flavor of hibiscus, lemony-tart, and berry-rich goes well with this soft and fruity Reposado with a hint of woodiness.

1.5 oz Tequila Cazadores Reposado

1 oz homemade hibiscus syrup

0.5 oz fresh lime juice

0.5 Agave Nectar

Cinnamon sugar rim
